This is a blog about my reads as well as everything related to them.
My taste is for good quality literature - old and new. Some of it I review here or on my main book blog Edith's Miscellany.
It's online - my first review for Valentina's Women Challenge #3! Admittedly, the Italian and English reading challenge started already on New Year's Day, but I didn't know it and joined only last week, when it was the turn of a male author on my blog unfortunately.
For this week I had long scheduled my review of Arturo's Island by Elsa Morante, a modern classic of Italian literature first published in 1957. In the book the author tells the fictitious memoirs of Arturo Gerace's solitary and free childhood which ends in the protagonist's clash with his formerly adored father and a definitive farewell to home in the dawn of World War II. The central theme of the story is love in all its facets including homosexual infatuation. To know more I invite you to read my review here!
